You paid for a website. It’s live. And the phone still isn’t ringing because of it. Frustrating, but usually fixable. Here are the six reasons we see most often, and what to do about each.
1. It loads too slowly on a phone
Your customers are standing in a driveway or sitting on the couch, searching on a phone. If your site takes more than a couple of seconds to load, many of them bail before they ever see it. Speed is not a nice-to-have. Fix the heavy images and the bloated template, or rebuild on something fast.
2. Your phone number is hard to find
Sounds obvious. It’s shockingly common. The number should be visible at the top of every page and tap-to-call on mobile. If a homeowner has to hunt for how to reach you, they’ll just hit the back button and call the next company.
3. There’s no clear next step
A good page tells the visitor exactly what to do. Call now, or request a quote. One obvious action, repeated down the page. When a site tries to say everything and ask for nothing, people read it and leave.
4. You’re invisible in local search
If you only show up when someone types your exact business name, you’re missing the people who don’t know you yet. Those folks search by service and city. Without local SEO and a solid Google Business Profile, you’re not in that conversation.
5. Nothing builds trust
Homeowners are letting a stranger onto their property. They want proof. Real photos of your work, real reviews, your license and service area, and a face behind the business all do more than any slogan. A stock photo of a smiling family in a hard hat does the opposite.
6. It wasn’t built for the jobs you want
If you want kitchen remodels but your site reads like a handyman catalog, you’ll get handyman calls. Your best pages should speak to your best jobs, with the language those customers use.
Most sites have two or three of these problems at once. The good news is they’re all fixable. If you want a second set of eyes, see what we do or tell us about your site and we’ll give you an honest read.
